Need an online private math tutor?
I am currently accepting appointments for online private math tutoring sessons for high school algebra and geometry as well as preparation for SAT math. College students enrolled in equivalant math classes are also students who would benefit from online private math tutoring. Younger students who are comfortable working on the computer also have the potential to benefit from online private math tutoring and are welcomed as students for general math tutoring. I am located in New Jersey but I welcome students from all states.
Software:
All necessary software for online private math tutoring sessions is free to the student. In online private math tutoring sessions, I use Dabbleboard, a free interactive whiteboard that both the student and I can write on and we both see what is written. We can both add or change what is written. There are a couple of free audio options available including Skype and regular phone. I can call you on a landline and there is no charge to your phone. If you have a headset and microphone, skype is also an option for you. This combination of interactive whiteboard and audio capability allows the student to work out problems and get immediate feedback, or I can demonstrate and explain how to work a problem while the student watches each step and participates. You can preview a general whiteboard on the Dabbleboard website but since math tutoring sessions are private, you will not be seeing a tutoring session when you visit that website. You will be emailed a specific link to the whiteboard that will be used during tutoring sessions when a session is scheduled. If parents wish to observe any session, let me know in advance so a link can be emailed prior to the session without interrupting the student’s scheduled tutoring hour. A parent can join and leave at any time during the session without any interruption of the session.
Qualifications: I earned my degrees from the College of New Jersey. My degrees include Bachelor of Science with certification in elementary education and secondary mathematics. I have experience in classroom teaching, face-to-face tutoring and over 5 years experience in one-to-one online math tutoring. My students have come from all over the U.S., Canada, and other international locations. I’ve tutored geometry and algebra for for more than 7 years. I have classroom experience as well as tutoring experience in both geometry and algebra. Most of my classroom experience was in a private school. I have classroom experience also in elementary school math, through 8th grade, face-to-face tutoring experience with younger students, as well as limited online math tutoring experience with younger students. My SAT prep high school students have experienced significantly increased SAT math scores after working with me in private math tutoring SAT prep sessions.
Certifications: NJ Elementary Eduation and Secondary Mathematics
Online hourly rates: $50.00 per hour, a typical session would be 1 hour of online private math tutoring.
First session option: Instead of the normal 1 hour session, you can try out “online private math tutoring” for $35.00 to see if it is a good match for the student. The session will be 30 minutes long. In a 30 minute session, you can expect to have one concept covered with 1-3 examples completed, depending on the student, the complexity of the concept, and the nature of the problem(s). Example: A typical geometry proof is likely to span most or all of a 30 minute session.
In home tutoring: At this time I am not scheduling in home tutoring sessions. However, if you are looking for a private math tutor, I suggest you try the online first session option and see if online private math tutoring will work for the student. Online tutoring is convenient, efficient, and cost effective. Most of my students have had success with one-to-one online private math tutoring sessions.
